About:
Education and Background
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from Capital University in May of 2014. I have training in technical writing for research, and tutored in research methods and statistics for three years. I have three years experience writing and reporting for my university newspaper; I have completed coursework spanning communications, english, political science, religion, the biological sciences, international relations, and humanities. I am currently enrolled as a graduate student in the Masters of Science program for journalism at the USC Annenberg School for Journalism and Communications.
Experience
I have extensive experience reporting, assigning stories, and managing content. Throughout my senior year in college, I assisted in leading all social media platforms for The Chimes, Capital University's student newspaper. I also assigned all content in print and online at CUChimes.com. I am proficient in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Wordpress. I have attended multiple leadership conferences, as well as College Media Association conferences in both Manhattan and New Orleans, and an SPJ conference at The Ohio State University in Columbus. I participated in the Contributing Writer Network for USA Today College during spring and summer 2014, with pieces published on usatodayeducate.com.
Interests
I am particularly interested in reporting foreign press and international relations. In contrast, I also enjoy covering issues that impact young adults and college-aged students such as women's health, popular culture, and travel.
